CIF Since the 80s!

Nguyen Mai ran her best time this season (18:36) and got 4th place in Garden Grove League and also qualify as an individual to go to CIF.  La Quinta's last girls to be in the 18s minutes range were back in the 80s.  Nguyen Mai has brought back the spirit for La Quinta.  Not bad for a 4.3+ GPA student in her second year of cross-country.  Nguyen will be at Mount San Antonio College (Mt. Sac) next Saturday for CIF.

The Le is Back!

Long Le a.k.a. Ken Le has made his move today and ran his season's best with 18:37.  This is Long's first year in cross-country.  Following his brother's (Vu Le 16:42) footsteps, Long will be part of the fast pack next cross country season.

Next Year?

Next year will be an interesting year because Bryan Vaughn will be in the 16s if he is determined and the fast pack of frosh/soph boys will be in the 17s and 18s.  Girls will do well too.  If each runner is willing to sacrifice his or her time and effort for cross-country, then the team will rise up again.

Runner of the week:   (10-23-04)

Huy Pham:

Special recognition for breaking 20 min (19:50) for the 3 mi course.  Good job and keep up the hard work Huy.

Tram Le:

Tram has been an outstanding runner who comes to practice everyday and works hard with all her effort.  She put up a good race against Rancho Alamitos and did her best to beat her competitor.

Runner of the week:   (10-16-04)

Bryan Vaughn:

Bryan joined the team as the season started and didn't get as much training as other runners, but he had been a big help to the team and will be the future best runner.  He ran his PR time (18:15) against Pacifica and got 1st place against what was once an undefeated team in the Garden Grove League.

Nguyen Mai:

Tremendous effort she put into her training and competition.  Nguyen ran her PR time (19:15) and got 1st place against Pacifica.  With her talent and effort, she will be the next La Quinta start runner to be under 19 minute for the 3 mi course in a long time.

Runner of the week  (10-09-04)

David Putros:

Congratulations to David for breaking 19 minutes on a 3 mi course.  He has been working hard since summer and it is now paying him off.  Keep up the hard work!

Catherine Vu:

Another PR for Catherine this season.  She deserves this for putting a lot of effort into her training.  She will continue to PR because the season is still a long way from ending.
